StarCargo — TMS for Freight Forwarders

A multi-tenant SaaS for transport orders and partner CRM — PDFs matching the firm’s own templates, in development.

LogisticsTMSMulti-tenant SaaS

Context

Freight forwarders keep orders in Word and Excel, re-enter the same data twice — once for the client, once for the subcontracted carrier — and check by hand whether a partner’s CMR insurance or transport licence is still valid. I am building StarCargo as software dedicated to that flow, designed from the start as a product for several freight forwarders, not as a one-off project for a single client.

What I built

  • A dual order model: the order to the client and the order to the subcontracted carrier are generated from data entered only once.
  • Documents generated as a PDF matching the firm’s own Word template, with gap-free numbering per series — an issued document is cancelled, not deleted, and the PDF stays immutable, tied to the template version it was generated from.
  • A partner CRM with company data pulled automatically from ANAF by tax ID, plus expiry alerts for CMR insurance and transport licences.

Technical highlights

Margin per trip before confirmation

the margin between the client order and the carrier order is visible before confirming the trip, not only in an end-of-month report.

A driver PWA, no accounts

drivers from the subcontracted carriers get access through a per-trip link, not an account — location is requested on demand, with no continuous tracking.

Scope: TMS + CRM

no fleet, GPS, or fuel cards. Invoicing (with e-Factura, with an optional StarBill integration) is planned for a later phase — the app works fully without it.
